🤔 Is Embiid Actually Signed To Skechers?

Skechers is dominating the sneaker news cycle with two stories. First off, Embiid has been seen wearing his old Under Armour shoes even though he "signed" with Skechers back in October. Snoop Dogg also just dropped a pair of hoop shoes with Skechers that retail for $160. A lot to unpack here, let's get into it 👟 (2 min read)

Two Skechers Stories

A lot of news in the sneakers space…about Skechers? Yup, you guessed it. The first story revolves around Joel Embiid, who as you know just dropped 70 points. Embiid was reportedly signed to Skechers, but after some investigation (read more here) people are starting to notice that Randle has been wearing his old Under Armour kicks with the logo covered 👇

These are the Under Armour Embiid 1s, with no UA logo. Interesting move for someone signed to Skechers. You can see the listing here with the actual logo 👀

Skechers is in a unique place right now, they signed Joel Embiid and Julius Randle before the NBA season, but Embiid’s Skechers deal hasn’t officially been finalized. Rumor has it the deal might get finalized during All-Star weekend, but Skechers IG doesn’t have any Embiid on it, just Randle 🍎

We’ll keep an eye out for how this all plays out. Our second story is on Snoop Dogg, who has entered into the performance basketball space in a surprising move with Skechers. The Snoop Dogg x Skechers SKX Resagrip “Boss Treatment” is hitting the markets with two colorways, white and orange, for $160. If Snoop is your guy, you can cop a pair here 🎧

The SKX Resagrip was one of the new performance basketball models introduced back in October. Obviously these are kind of funky and outside of the realm of typical performance basketball shoes, but I think it's cool that Snoop is so unapologetic about his many endorsements, whether it's Coronas or smokeless campfires 🍺

They main thing that separates these “Boss Treatment” sneakers is the Snoop Dogg ‘S’ instead of the Skechers ‘S’. While $160 is a relatively fair price for some basketball shoes, I don’t expect to see these flying off the shelf 😏

I’d love to know what NBA player is going to rock his new shoe first. Would have been Nick Young if he was still in the league. And honestly, is Snoop making these marketing videos himself? I feel like we can do better 😅
