šŸŽ§ Kendrick vs Drake Sneaker Edition

My timeline has been taken over by Kendrick Lamar and Drake. The two won't stop dropping diss tracks and to be honest I think Kendrick won it with the most recent one. Let's take a look at the history of both their sneaker collabs and see who is winning on that front. How do these guys write these songs so quickly? šŸŽµ (2 min read)

Kendrick vs Drake

Okay let’s just get it out the way, I’m one of the biggest Drake fans in the world…I’m in like the top .0001% every year according to Spotify. With the exception of a handful of songs on his newer albums, I probably know the words to all of his tracks. I barely listen to Kendrick Lamar. The only song I really bumped on his new album was the one with Kodak Black and I usually just fast forward to Kodak’s verse šŸŽ§

All of this to say…Kendrick is smoking Drake in this rap beef. His songs are almost most all classics, except for Meet the Grahams, to quote the poet Juelz Santana, it’s like he wrote a bedtime story for Drake’s son šŸ‘‡

Drake’s have just been weird. I like Family Matters and Push Ups, but the most recent one rubbed me the wrong way for a multitude of reasons. Kendrick is not the one to mess with clearly šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Drake is obviously hoping this beef ends as soon as possible, but I kind of feel like it’s gonna be long hot summer in the 6 with Kendrick dropping a lot more songs. On the sneaker front, both of these guys have a fire history of collabs. My favorite might be the Jordan 12s from 2016, which go for over $700 on resell platforms šŸ¦‰

Drake currently has a Nike deal and Nike line NOCTA, which to be honest is all Kanye ever wanted before all of the adidas madness. The most popular model to date is the NOCTA Glide, which comes in black and white. The chrome colorway goes for about $100 more and a few people in the office rock them religiously 🄵

Going all the way back to 2015, Kendrick has done several collabs with Reebok, with the Ventilator being the first. These now go for over $1k šŸ‘€

The most recent Kendrick shoes are also Nike, so the biggest sneaker brand in the world has both artists pitted against each other…fitting. The Nike Cortez Kenny IV ā€˜House Shoes’ go for a few hundo and have a unique look to them. I feel like these go under the radar šŸ’§

In 2019, Kendrick dropped a Nike React Element 55, which was considered a rather random collab. These have every day shoe vibes and actually go for under $200. The most recent drop actually came before the release of Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, but they aren’t a direct Kendrick collab. The Chuck 70 is still a classic look though and are under $300 šŸ¤

Anyway, none of this really matters right now, Not Like Us is the greatest diss record since Nas’ Ether or Jay-Z’s Takeover. Drake, bow out respectfully, you don’t want these problems 🄶
