Kobe Rumors

The Kobe 8 is rumored to be making a return in 2023. Shoutout to Vanessa and Nike for working out a deal that allows the people to buy Kobe’s sneakers again 👏

The first pair released as a part of this renewed partnership were the Kobe 6 Protro “Mambacita Sweet 16”. These were easily the biggest performance basketball release of the year, and they obviously hold a tremendous amount of sentimental value. I know many fans were disappointed that they weren’t able to buy the Mambacitas, and I can't help but wonder if Nike will make an effort to increase stock for Kobe’s future releases 🐍

I would argue that the Kobe brand has surpassed Jordan brand as the preeminent performance basketball sneaker. Considering that Kobe’s are supposed to be worn for playing basketball, I feel like these kicks need to be mass produced so that kids around the world can hoop in them. It's what Kobe would have wanted, and according to someone named @shervin, Kobe was flirting with the idea of leaving Nike to start his own sneaker company: Mamba 👀

I met with Kobe Bryant in late December 2019. Kobe wasn’t happy with Nike and was going to leave it in 2020. Kobe was going to start Mamba, a shoe company owned by players. He passed away weeks later. What he was about to do in business was going to eclipse his sports career.

Personally I think it's a little irresponsible to speak for the dead like this and make such a massive claim, but I can't help but feel like the Shervinator may be telling the truth. Please don’t impose artificial scarcity on these upcoming Kobe sneakers and make enough shoes that we can all buy a pair. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk 🎙
