The Air Jordan 15 Story

Everyone knows Michael Jordan completed his first 3-peat during the 1990-1993 seasons. At the time, MJ was satisfied and retired from the Bulls, opening the door for Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets to win back-to-back titles from ‘93-’95 🚀

Mike then came back at the end of the ‘95 season, and as you know, completed his second 3-peat with the Bulls from ‘95-’98, fully cementing his legacy as the GOAT of the game we all love 🐐

I say all of this because the Air Jordan 15 model, which has become one of the more popular shoes over the last few years and not in the recently sold collection above, has only been seen on Michael Jordan’s feet one time 👇

Designed by Nike legend Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 15 originally dropped in 1999, the year after Mike retired from the Bulls for the 2nd time. Because he wasn’t in the NBA at the time, we never saw Mike wear this model on court 😏

Instead, we saw Team Jumpman players like Ray Allen, Mike Bibby and Michael Finley lace ‘em up - crazy enough even Reggie Miller wore a pair, but he’s better known for wearing the Jordan 11 ‘Cool Grey’ 🏹

This shoe was pretty divisive back in the day when it dropped and people still have strong feelings about it - the Billie Eilish Jordan 15 collab definitely got mixed reviews, but personally I was a huge fan 🙏

I think the AJ15 is extremely sleek and fashionable, but I recognize they may not be for everyone. Just like the 14 model was inspired by Mike’s love for Ferraris, the 15 was reportedly heavily inspired by Italian fashion. MJ is a huge fan of Prada, and the all black colorway with the red stripe in the back obviously gives me Prada vibes ⚫️
