💰 MJ’s $1.47M Nikes Up For 2nd Auction
Two years ago most of us were stuck in our homes watching The Last Dance. Soon after, MJ's earliest known worn Nike Air Ships sold for $1.47M. Now, the shoes have resurfaced with another auction currently live - the top bid is at $170,000, but we'll have to wait till September 13th to see if the final price is anywhere near 2021's $1.47M 👀 (2 min read)

MJ’s $1.47M Nikes
Take it back two years ago. A pair of 1984 Nike Air Ships, worn by Michael Jordan in the fifth game of his rookie campaign, were sold for a record-setting $1.47M 🤑

Mike was playing in Denver and dropped 17 points in 33 minutes of playing time. After the game, MJ gave his shoes to Nuggets ball boy T.J. Lewis, who maintained and eventually sold the shoes to high-end card collector Nick Fiorella. The $1.47M price-tag sounds like a lot of money for a pair of non-Jordans, but Fiorella’s collection is top notch 👀
Sotheby’s reveals that the winner of the earliest NBA game-worn Michael Jordan sneakers (matched to his fifth game), which sold for $1.47 million today, is Nick Fiorella.
Fiorella famously bought the Luka Doncic 1/1 Logoman card for $4.6 million in March.

Fast forward to today, and these shoes have officially resurfaced, and I wonder if the round 2 auction price will exceed the numbers we saw back in 2021. I don’t know a lot about the vintage game worn MJ market, but I do know that it's been a while since we all got stimulus checks ✔️
Michael Jordan's game-used Nike Air Ship sneakers from his rookie season are up for auction.
MJ wore them 5 days after signing his Nike deal and gave them to a ball boy.
The ball boy sold them for $1.47 million and now they are back on the market.

I hope whoever is selling these beauties makes some money, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if the market softened a bit…The Last Dance all had us feeling some type of way back in 2021. As much as I love the Air Ships, low key Nigel Sylvester made the best pair. Peep this if you don’t know what I’m talking about 👇

Overall, the general public doesn’t really feel the same way I do about the Nike Air Ships, as you can pretty much cop every colorway for below retail. They’re so clean I almost feel like people are sleeping on them because they’re TOO tasteful. I mean seriously!
