We Need To DESTROY Our New Kicks?

We've all had a Gobstopper, right? Well now Jimmy Fallon is dropping a pair of wear away shoes with MSCHF that'll spice up the kicks world. Plus, the GT Cut 2s are dropping soon, but people aren't so hyped on it. Let's break it down πŸ‘Ÿ (3 min read)

MSCHF Gobstomper

Over the past year, MSCHF has been all over the news for their unique collaborations, some even sparking lawsuits with major brands. But that doesn't stop them from making a splash, and now they are partnering with talk-show host Jimmy Fallon to release a Gobstopper inspired skate shoe called the "Gobstomper" 🍬

MSCHF added their own unique twist to the skate shoe. Like the Gobstopper candy, as the shoe wears down, a thermal pattern of new colors are revealed from within 🧡

But, wear away shoes that display a secondary colorway are not exactly a new innovation...Nike SB has released multiple extremely popular shoes that change colors with wear and tear. Peep these Jordan 1 SBs from 2014 πŸ‘‡

We're super intrigued on how these will change over time, and actually just got a pair sent to us. Take a look at the unboxing, and we'll make sure to update you as we start destroying them 🧹

Big News For Hoopers

Today's game of basketball moves fast, and what you wear on your feet is as important as ever. Last year, when the original GT Cut was dropped, players such as Cade Cunningham, Khris Middleton and De'Aaron Fox were seen rocking them in live game action πŸ€

These Nikes are often compared to the Kobe 8s, and just like those, they fetch a pretty penny on the resale market. Many popular colorways go for $700+, an unprecedented price for a modern performance basketball shoe πŸ’°

Now just a year later Nike is dropping the GT Cut 2, which has been met with mixed reactions from the hoop community πŸ—£

The lack of availability of the old model, and subsequent resale inflation, is the main reason why people are frustrated with this lackluster sequel. On top of that, people just like the design of the original GT Cut better - peep what their saying πŸ‘‡

What's the takeaway here? At the end of the day, it feels like most consumers would rather Nike just focus on making the original "hit sneaker" available, before moving on to the v2. By the way, we tested out the v1s - take a look ✏️
