šŸ“š Devin Booker Sneaker Drama

Devin Booker's Nike Book 1s drop in a few weeks, but people are not happy with how Nike has rolled out the signature shoe. Book dropped a comment on a recent Complex IG that was definitely unexpected...let's take a look at how this situation is playing out. I hope Devin gets the support he deserves when these drop šŸ™ (2 min read)

Nike Book 1 Drama

The Nike Book 1 hasn’t even officially dropped yet and the star behind the shoe already had some choice words about the rollout of his first signature sneaker. For context, Complex put out a video discussing the Nike Book 1 release and they were pretty critical about the fact that the shoe sorta dropped at Art Basel (500 pairs) in December and not in Phoenix where Booker plays. Peep the post šŸ‘‡

Devin Booker himself commented on this post agreeing with Complex…wow okay. The call is coming from inside the house so to speak. Seeing a Nike signature athlete criticize a sneaker launch is kinda wild. Booker is a bold man

Personally, if Nike gave me my own signature shoe and it was as fire as D Books’ I wouldn't say diddly squat about the rollout. But I'm not Devin Booker, I’m just a guy standing in front of a computer screen asking it to publish my newsletter šŸ‘¾

I respect Devin being unflinchingly honest and I appreciate that he's giving us in the sneaker sphere something to gossip about. I personally love the shoes and I don’t really GAF that people seem to think these are too ā€œlifestyle orientedā€. I understand Book’s feelings that a Phoenix Suns colorway shoe should have been released in Phoenix, but I also get why Nike wanted to have an activation surrounding the shoe at Basel ā˜€ļø

Obviously a simple solution would have been a simultaneous release, but I’m not in charge of those sort of things. The most important thing is that we see little kids at Suns games wearing the Nike Book 1, that’s what’s supposed to happen and I’m confident that it will happen following a the general release in a few weeks. While all this drama was going on, Durant was just doing his thing with the game-winner in his Suns-inspired Nike KD 16s šŸ

Back to Book, it’s been confirmed that the Nike Book 1 will be released to the masses on February 17th during NBA All-Star weekend. There’s a few alternate colorways that have leaked: Hike, Haven and Rattlesnake. I like the Haven šŸ’§

Let’s just make sure we support Book in a few weeks when these drop, he’s the man and we at Overtime are big fans. If you were wondering, some of the Basel numbered shoes are for sale…for $1900+ šŸ’°
