🐍 3rd Kobe 'Mambacita' Shoe Coming Soon

A Kobe 8 Protro 'Mambacita' is set to drop in the summer of 2024, and this colorway is beautiful. Sadly, like the recent Reverse Grinch shock drop, I think these will be extremely hard to get and will have a rather high resale value. Sad, but that's just the way the sneaker world works these days 😏 (2 min read)

New Kobe 8 ‘Mambacita’

Nike is preparing to drop a Kobe 8 Protro “Mambacita” in the summer of 2024. This will be the third Mambacita sneaker released, and while the first two have featured primarily black and white colorways, this iteration offers a beautiful butterfly pattern across a majority of the upper shoe 💧

These Kobe 8s are an elegant tribute to Gigi and I appreciate the risk the designers took with implementing the butterfly pattern - we can expect to see these released on May 1st 2024 on Nike.com for $190. But it's honestly sad to see the previous Mambacita Kobes getting resold for hiked up prices on the retail market ($500+), the reality is it's the nature of the beast when it comes to high profile sneaker releases 😏

About a week ago we saw a shock drop for the Kobe Reverse Grinches that left many feeling sorry for themselves because they didn’t “Get Em”. Sadly, I expect to see a lot of the same hurt feelings surrounding these Kobe 8 Protro Mamacitas. Don’t get it twiste, this release is definitely good news. And to stick with the Kobe theme, Duke just got their first pair of university kicks…and they are so dope. Take a look 💯

So to conclude - I understand why Nike and others release such limited quantities of their shoes, but at a certain point one has to wonder, who are they helping and who are they hurting? Healthy debate. Not for nothing 🤷🏽‍♂️
