🌵 Travis Scott x McEnroe Beef Explained

Sometimes you have to give credit when credit is due, and the Nike/Travis/McEnroe PR stunt for their upcoming collab is one of those times. Nothing like leaked Zoom calls and vandalism to generate clicks and conversation ahead of a big drop. We'll explain how it all went down 💯 (2 min read)

Travis x McEnroe Beef

A few days ago, a Zoom meeting between Travis Scott and John McEnroe was leaked in which you can hear the two arguing about what their upcoming shoe, the Travis Scott x Nike Mac Attack, should be called 👇

We now know that the Zoom beef was a brilliantly fabricated PR stunt, and I want to applaud Nike, Travis and McEnroe for having a good sense of humor about everything. Obviously, John gets a reputation for being one of the most petulant tennis players of all time, so it made a lot of sense for him to be beefing with Travis and demanding more respect in the partnership 🗣

Travis is on a Zoom call telling John that the name Mac Attack sounds like a burger and the young ragers aren’t feeling it. Later, we see Travis spray painting over McEnroe’s plaque in Beaverton 😳

And then finally, we had the People’s gallery interview where McEnroe debuted a pair of Travis Scott Mac Attacks that must be his personal pair because they say Cactus Mac instead of Cactus Jack 💧

I think it says a lot about John’s reputation that people like myself actually temporarily entertained the notion that this could be real. You guys might not know about Wimbledon McEnroe, but this is one of his all-time great moments 👇

If this whole beef and leaking was actually a real thing, you better believe that whoever shared that Zoom call footage would be fired immediately - they do not play like that in Beaverton and that would be a big no go at the check. The Mac Attacks are an awesome show and I applaud Nike for this bit of PR savvy ahead of the December 19th release 👏
