Air Jordan 1 "Banned"

Jordan Brand just dropped the commercial of the year. The rollout for the Air Jordan 1 "Banned" (or "Breds") has been extraordinary đŸ€©

All-Star Weekend—the biggest weekend of the year for sneaker releases—saw Jordan Brand pull out all the stops to promote the Bred 1s 🍞

For context, Nike famously paid a $5,000 fine to let Michael Jordan continue wearing his Black and Red sneakers, which violated the league rule requiring sneakers to be 51% white đŸ˜”

The ad campaign centers on a compelling question: "What if Nike never paid the fine?" To bring this concept to life, Jordan Brand deactivated their "Jumpman23" social media accounts and started "banning" Jordans with a black box—a nod to the classic Nike commercial đŸ€‘

They even blacked out Jordans on their online store (while keeping them available for purchase) and removed them from Fortnite. As someone who works in social media, I found this whole campaign brilliant—especially seeing such a massive brand deliberately go dark 🌚

Then came the commercial—wow đŸ€Ż

Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, Paolo Banchero, Teyana Taylor, DJ Khaled, Nigel Sylvester, and Spike Lee. This is hands down the most star-studded commercial ever made. Seeing all these mega-stars together is absolutely wild. Major props to Jordan Brand for making this release the sneaker moment of the year
