Air Jordan 1 "Banned"
Jordan Brand just dropped the commercial of the year. The rollout for the Air Jordan 1 "Banned" (or "Breds") has been extraordinary 🤩
Jordan Brand reimagined its iconic Banned Air Jordan commercial, showing what it would’ve been like if they never paid Michael Jordan’s NBA fines—and it’s 🔥🔥🔥

All-Star Weekend—the biggest weekend of the year for sneaker releases—saw Jordan Brand pull out all the stops to promote the Bred 1s 🍞
Jordan Brand & the Chicago Bulls add the same black bars to Michael Jordan’s statue that were put over the Air Jordan 1s in Nike’s 1985 ad 📺

For context, Nike famously paid a $5,000 fine to let Michael Jordan continue wearing his Black and Red sneakers, which violated the league rule requiring sneakers to be 51% white 😵
The ad campaign centers on a compelling question: "What if Nike never paid the fine?" To bring this concept to life, Jordan Brand deactivated their "Jumpman23" social media accounts and started "banning" Jordans with a black box—a nod to the classic Nike commercial 🤑
'85 vs. '25... Jordan Brand tried to replicate the OG as much as they could for this Air Jordan 1 "Banned" retro... how did they do?

They even blacked out Jordans on their online store (while keeping them available for purchase) and removed them from Fortnite. As someone who works in social media, I found this whole campaign brilliant—especially seeing such a massive brand deliberately go dark 🌚
Then came the commercial—wow 🤯
Jordan Brand had everybody in this commercial! 🔥🔥

Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, Paolo Banchero, Teyana Taylor, DJ Khaled, Nigel Sylvester, and Spike Lee. This is hands down the most star-studded commercial ever made. Seeing all these mega-stars together is absolutely wild. Major props to Jordan Brand for making this release the sneaker moment of the year
