Kanye West And adidas End Legal Battle
Kanye West and Adidas have squashed their beef—sort of. The two parties settled out of court, agreeing to end all legal proceedings between them. Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden stated, "There aren't any more open issues, and there's no… money going either way, and we both move on." For the past two years, Adidas and Ye were battling in court after Adidas cut ties with him following his antisemitic comments.

Adidas continued selling remaining Yeezy footwear inventory, which generated considerable revenue post-split. However, Yeezy sales have slowed significantly. Q3 2024 saw $200 million in Yeezy revenue, down from $350 million in Q3 2023. This decline is attributed to dwindling stock and disinterest in available models, which weren't popular even during the partnership.

Since the breakup, Kanye seems to have been in an absolute freefall spiral, with his music and designs suffering noticeably. I looked up to Kanye West for most of my life, but his fall from grace is undeniable at this point.

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"—Kanye has certainly become the latter. Adidas was still trying to sell Yeezy sneakers (albeit at a significant markdown) while Kanye has been on an anti-Adidas campaign ever since he got let go.

There was a time when Yeezy was the hottest sneaker brand on the streets, but at this point, they've basically become a signifier of swaggerlessness. Watching a massive corporation like Adidas trying to sell off remaining stock of ugly shoes was a weird look, but I don't fault them for trying to move the merchandise. I like what Adidas has been doing recently, and I really hope Kanye West gets the help he needs because I wholeheartedly believe that he's one of the greatest living artists.
