Joel Embiid left adidas for Under Armour in 2018, and is now signing with your grandmother's favorite sneaker company. Yes that's right, Joel Embiid is the new face of Skechers basketball. Official details have yet to be released, but here’s everything we know at this moment 👇

We first got wind of the Skechers foray when Julius Randle and Terrance Mann pulled up to NBA media day wearing some new Skechers basketball shoes. I know Skechers gets a bad rep for being a little kids shoe, but I respect these players for doing something different and carving their own lane with a new/old brand. Admit it, these neons go hard 😤

I know people think Skechers is basically designed for older folks and small children, but I am super optimistic about the brands move into the basketball space. Think about it like this, if you were Embiid or Randle, why sign not sign with a brand where you get to be the hero? Here’s what Julius had to say 🗣

Julius Randle on his deal with Sketchers:
“It’s an opportunity to do things outside of the box and things I might not have been able to do with Nike or Jordan. …It’s the 4th largest shoe in the world. They have a market and now they’re trying to tap into a different market.”

So Embiid left Under Armour for Skechers, and Julius Randle left Nike…pretty solid week for the American brand if you ask me. I would have thought we’d be hearing big names like these going to Reebok, considering the recent Shaq and AI news, but as Randle said, this is certainly a move that shakes things up and probably has a little more upside 👏

So Joel, Julius and Terrance are going to lead Sketchers back into the basketball market. We’ve already seen two styles and I expect more to appear soon. Are y’all buying this? It’s kinda blowing my mind. Do we rock with Skechers now? 👟
